HOLIDAY MART BIDS FAREWELL AFTER 36 REMARKABLE YEARS OF GIVING BACK
Junior League to celebrate spectacular sendoff while ringing in a new era of fundraising

KANSAS CITY, MO – The Junior League of Kansas City, Missouri (JLKCMO) will sunset its iconic Holiday Mart shopping fundraiser after this year’s event in late October 2023, marking the end of an era that has left an indelible mark on our community and beyond.

Since its inception in 1988, Holiday Mart has been a curated shopping experience fully powered by women committed to community, having transformed into the city’s largest shopping fundraiser to support JLKCMO’s community projects and volunteer training programs.

Over the course of almost four decades, this remarkable fundraiser has raised more than $12 million for diverse causes impacting women’s self-sustainability and childhood development. Holiday Mart funding has helped launch some of Kansas City’s most well-known institutions and programs that have touched countless lives and cemented a legacy of advancing women’s leadership for meaningful and lasting community impact. Holiday Mart has fostered a sense of unity and solidarity in the community, with thousands of volunteers, donors, and partners coming together to make a difference—their collective efforts creating a ripple effect of positive change.

The impact of JLKCMO’s Holiday Mart fundraiser has also extended far beyond financial contributions by promoting the importance of social responsibility and driving local and regional small business powerhouses.

The final year of Holiday Mart will be nothing short of extraordinary, with an extensive and diverse selection of retailers, a new location, and an array of special events, including a VIP shopping experience and Besties’ Night Out. Storytime with Santa will embody the magic of the holidays with cherished children’s holiday stories from around the world, and the event will close with a spectacular send-off celebration.

As the organization celebrates this monumental milestone, JLKCMO expresses its deepest gratitude to everyone who has been part of this incredible journey. The legacy of Holiday Mart will continue to shine brightly, even as this chapter comes to an end.
