Junior League of Kansas City, Missouri

Membership Requirements

The decision of whether Junior League membership is appropriate for you is a serious one and should not be taken lightly. As with most activities in life, rewards are primarily derived with significant commitments of time and energy. The first year in Junior League, a New Member is required to complete a training course with both formal and hands-on elements to familiarize the New Member with the Junior League and the Kansas City community.

Requirements for a New Member include the following:

  • Initial fees of $200 (includes dues, course fees, and 5 Holiday Mart Tickets)
  • Completion of the New Member Education Training Course
  • Completion of a volunteer rotation at the Junior League Resale Boutique
  • Completion of one 4-hour shift at Holiday Mart
  • Contribution of at least $100 worth of gently-used clothing and/or household goods

After completing the New Member year, each member becomes an Active Member and the membership requirements change:

  • Annual dues of $150 (includes dues and 5 Holiday Mart Tickets)
  • Contribution of at least $100 worth of gently-used clothing and/or household goods
  • Participation in a volunteer placement
  • Completion of 2 AMR shifts (All Member Rotations) at either the Junior League Resale Boutique or Holiday Mart or a combination of the two.
  • Actives entering their 4th-9th Active years are required to complete 1 AMR shift.
  • Actives entering their 10th or more Active year are not required to complete any AMRs, but are certainly welcome and appreciated.
  • Attendance at a minimum of 2 General Membership meetings and 1 training session, or the approved equivalents.
