Being a member of the JLKCMO has numerous benefits. Because of JLKCMO's wide geographic draw across our city, our members form friendships with women from all areas of metropolitan Kansas City.
Traditionally, JLKCMO has been known for its well-trained volunteers. Even into the 21st century, JLKCMO continues to offer training in diverse areas for its members. Whether it is learning CPR, parenting skills or facilitation training, the JLKCMO brings current, relevant training to its members.
The Junior League also trains its members through multiple opportunities to be involved in the governance of the Junior League. Leaders learn meeting presentation skills, boardsmanship, conflict resolution, collaborative decision making and parliamentary procedure.
Volunteer Opportunities
As a result of its longstanding presence in the Kansas City community, JLKCMO involves its members in a wide variety of volunteer service opportunities. JLKCMO has been a participant and driving force behind Science City at Union Station, the Nelson Atkins Museum Docent Program, the expansion of the Kansas City Zoo, Children's Mercy Hospital and so many other agencies, they are too numerous to list. In addition to these high profile projects, JLKCMO offers members the opportunity to volunteer one on one with seniors in nursing homes, children in hospitals, visually impaired children, youths looking for friends and many other opportunities.
