Grant: $5,000 for a Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) therapy program
TLC provides therapeutic and educational services for children with disabilities in an environment which fosters their independence and celebrates their successes.

Grant: $10,000 for literature books for the English program (grades 9-12)
Volunteers will assist students with online library research skills for documented research papers.

Grant: $2,000 to purchase dictionaries for all third graders in twelve Metro counties.

Hooked on Books committee members will coordinate the collection, sorting and distribution of an estimated 45,000 books this fall. The Junior League of Kansas City, Missouri will partner with The Star on this important endeavor – to provide children throughout the metro area with age-appropriate books of their own to keep at home.

Grant: $5,000 for books, literacy kits and Family Night events.
